Shane Brennan

Trumpet, Piccolo Trumpet, Eb Trumpet and Flugel horn
Born in 1988, Shane Brennan graduated from The Royal College of Music as a scholar in 2010, and on doing so, he was awarded the Herbert Samuel Memorial Prize for Trumpet. Whilst at The RCM, Shane studied with Paul Archibald, Paul Beniston, Ian Balmain and Neil Brough (natural trumpet). Shane performed as principal trumpet with all of the College orchestras under conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Martin Andre.
Shane has already had a very diverse musical career. He has performed with various pop artists including The Hoosiers and Leon Jackson, and he also recorded the commercial soundtrack to a staged version of Peter Pan with The London Session Orchestra. In 2008, Shane toured to Switzerland where he performed Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. He has also performed both the Haydn and the Hummel trumpet concertos in their entirety. Shane has recorded for both BBC television and radio, and he has performed for leading world figures including Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and Her Majesty The Queen.
Shane’s varied musical spectrum continued in 2009 when he was asked to tour with the highly successful folk group Brass Monkey. This has allowed Shane to perform in some of the finest venues including The Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Dvorak Hall and The London Palladium. Shane has performed in a multitude of shows all over the world, most notably professional West-End show tours to Cyprus and Jersey performing as principal trumpet in Bernstein’s West Side Story with The London Theatre Orchestra.
Most recently, Shane worked with The English Baroque Soloists conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner and he also performed as guest principal trumpet with Britten Sinfonia in a production of Stravinsky’s Renard at the world famous opera venue – Glyndebourne. Recent tours include a tour of Europe with The Westenders and Angelika Milster, a UK tour with Russell Watson on his 'La Voce' tour, and a tour to Mumbai to perform with The Symphony Orchestra of India.
