Christian began the trumpet at the age of 8 and two years later attended the Royal College of Music Junior Department where he studied with Edgar Riches and Torbjorn Hultmark. Whilst there Christian was awarded the Esther Coleman prize, the Brass prize and won the Angela Bull Memorial Competition.
Christian has had solo enagaments with the London Mozart Players and at St Martin in the Fields. He has a keen interest in the baroque trumpet and has appeared as a soloist at Carpenters Hall in London on this instrument. Other performed repertoire includes Peter Maxwell-Davies' trumpet concerto and Bach's 2nd Brandenberg Concerto. Christian has worked with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, English National Ballet, London Brass and as principal trumpet with the Philharmonia Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.
He has played under conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Lorin Maazel, Esa Pekka-Salonen, Sir Mark Elder, Richard Hickox, Peter Stark, Sir Neville Marriner, Vladimir Jurowski and John Wilson.
Christian is currently in his fourth year as a scholar at the Royal College of Music in London and studies under Alistair Mackie and Mike Lovatt. He is also a recipient of the "Jack Petchey Award".
